Although this is a Surname DNA project, and thus emphasis is on the male of the species, we have recruited a direct maternal line descendant from an early FAMILTON family to see what that might tell us. Finally made time to do a few tweaks to the FAMILTON Surname DNA Project supplementary pages. Very little new information has been added, but the descendant chart formats have (mostly, I think) been brought up to the more interactive version where you can expand/contract lines to get a better idea of where people fit. A few more twigs were added to the Wanted line of William and Bessie (WILSON)

Another Northumberland family has been added to the Patriarch page, that of Henry and Jane of Ashington and Morpeth. As it says, some of the relationships shown may need confirmation, way too many Henrys and Johns to sort out ! Is there any connection to the Birdhope Craig family? Or to the Ancrum and Earlston ones?

Took a peek to see if any more of the results were in as yet, and yes. We have a predicted haplogroup of "G", not one of the commonest around. Supplementary pages have been updated to reflect the additional results, as has the haplogroup chart.

Preliminary results are now available for our one and only participant to date. Only 12 markers are published as yet, but matches within the Family Tree DNA tested world show a 12/12 match with a HAMILTON, family tree as yet unknown, beyond his being a John HAMILTON born in Ireland, and dying in Sth Carolina, timeframes not stated.
